Passports
To enter New Caledonia, Americans, Australians, British, Canadians and EU nationals should ensure that their passport has at least three (3) months of validity after the date they intend to leave New Caledonia.
Visas
Visas for New Caledonia are not required by the nationals referred to in the chart above for touristic stays of up to 90 days, provided that they hold a return ticket, have sufficient funds, and have travel insurance with a minimum coverage of €30,000.
Nationals not referred to in the chart above are advised to contact the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Schengen Visas
New Caledonia is a dependent territory of France. It is neither a French overseas region nor part of the Schengen area. Accordingly, Schengen visas do not apply.

Sufficient Funds
Any visitor to New Caledonia may be asked for proof of sufficient funds to cover their stay.
Extension of stay
EU nationals (other than French citizens) can only extend their stay beyond three months with special permission from the local authorities; they do not have the right of abode or the right to work in New Caledonia.
