Travelling to Pennsylvania by Rail

Pennsylvania has dozens of passenger railroads (www.patripsbytrain.com) in addition to mainline Amtrak (tel: +1 800 872 7245, in the USA only; www.amtrak.com) services. Philadelphia is home to one of Amtrak's busiest stations, at 30th Street, which is served by the 'Acela Express' service linking Washington, DC (journey time - 1 hour 50 minutes) with New York City (journey time - 1 hour 20 minutes) and Boston (journey time - 5 hours 35 minutes). Free transfers to the urban transportation system, run by SEPTA, are available to Amtrak passengers (request upon ticket purchase). Pittsburgh has daily Amtrak services to Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, DC.
