About Sibiu International Airport (SBZ)

Sibiu International Airport serves the historic city of Sibiu, one of the country’s most important cultural centres, in southern Transylvania, Romania. Information:

The airport information desk is situated in the terminal's public area, near the check-in desks. Public announcements are made in both Romanian and English. There is also a tourist information desk in Arrivals.

Driving directions:

From Sibiu city centre, head west along Şoseaua Alba Iulia (DN1) for 4 km (2.5 miles). The airport entrance is on the left. The total drive time from central Sibiu to the airport is approximately 12 minutes.

Public Transport

Public transport road:

Bus: Bus services (tel: +40 269 426 100; www.tursib.ro) operate from the bus station outside the airport, with bus numbers 11, 112, 116, 117 and 118 running into Sibiu (journey time: 10 minutes). Tickets can be purchased from a machine near the bus station (note: tickets can only be paid for in Romanian leu).

Taxi: Cabs operate from immediately outside the terminal. Taxi assistance is available at the information desk. As is the case with getting a taxi in any destination, remember to ensure that the vehicle is officially licensed and metered.

Terminal facilities

Money:

There is an ATM, exchange office and automated exchange machine dealing in several major currencies including Euros, US Dollars and British Sterling.

Food:

There are cafés both before and after security offering small meals. For snacks, vending machines are also available. Fast food is also available at Departures.

Shopping:

Small souvenir style items can be purchased at the café, while a convenience store is also available in Arrivals. Duty free is also available in Departures.

Luggage:

Left luggage facilities are not available at the airport, but free trolleys are provided. For lost and found queries, contact the main information desk (tel: +40 269 253 135).

Other:

Other facilities available at Sibiu International Airport include a tourist information desk in Arrivals, and baby changing facilities dotted throughout the terminal.

Airport facilities

Conference and business:

There are no meeting facilities at the airport, but meeting rooms are available at the nearby Ana Airport Hotel (tel: +40 269 228 875; www.anaairporthotel.ro), along with larger hotels in the city centre, five minutes away by car or taxi.

Communication Facilities:

Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout Sibiu International Airport. Public telephones (using prepaid cards) can be found throughout the terminal.

Disabled facilities:

All public facilities at the airport are on one level, making it fully accessible to wheelchair users. Any passengers requiring additional assistance are advised to contact their airline before travelling.

Car parking:

Parking for 300 vehicles, charged at standard hourly rates, is available immediately outside the terminal. Longer term rates are also available.

Car rental:

International car rental companies: Avis, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt, along with local outfit Autonom, are represented at the airport, with offices located within the terminal, immediately after baggage reclaim.
