Stavanger excursions
Preikestolen
More energetic visitors can also view the Lysefjord from the top of Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock). Its summit is a square and flat plateau 600m (1,968ft) above the fjord. Preikestolen is a relatively easy, two-hour hike each way from the nearest bus stop.

Lysefjorden
Within easy striking distance of Stavanger is some of Norway's wildest scenery with a string of pencil-thin fjords jagging deep into the interior framed and flanked by mighty mountain peaks. The star turn here is the 42km-long (26m) Lysefjord, which can be visited on regular boat trips between June and September.
