Weather in Hanoi

Hanoi has a humid subtropical climate and is a year-round holiday destination.

Spring (February to April) starts with fog shrouding the city in February and March, but April is pleasant with temperatures averaging 24°C (75°F).

Summer (May to August) is hot, humid and with frequent heavy rains which are over in a couple of hours, refreshing the city and giving way to sunshine. Temperatures are between 24°C (75°F) and 32°C (90°F). This is high season, just remember to bring a raincoat.

Autumn (September to October) is the best time to visit Hanoi, particularly in October when the weather is warm with plenty of sunshine.

Winter (November to January) is cool and dry, with January being the coolest month with temperatures averaging 16°C (61°F) - still pleasant to many. Tet, the Vietnamese New Year, takes place in January or February so many shops are closed.
