Karthigai Deepam
Festival of lights with lamps and firecrackers celebrated on the full moon evening in the Tamil month of Karthigai. On this occasion, people clean their houses and light lamps, which are moved to different places in the house and are arranged near the doors, windows and balconies.

Chennai Dance and Music Festival
One of the largest music and dance festivals in the world - a celebration of classical music and dance of South India (Carnatic style), which is held at a number of venues around the city. The city comes alive with the festival which has now developed into a cultural extravaganza with thousands of participants. Performances include vocal and instrumental music as well as dance by artists of all ages.
