About Montego Bay Sangster International Airport (MBJ)

One of three international airports in Jamaica, Montego Bay Sangster International Airport serves the northwest of the country and is the most popular airport used by tourists visiting the Caribbean Island. There are several information counters (tel: +1 876 952 2712) spread between the ticketing concourse, departures lounge, ground transportation hall and arrivals area. In addition, there is a visitor information service provided by the Jamaica Tourist Board (tel: +1 876 952 2462; www.visitjamaica.com) in the arrivals hall.

From Montego Bay, head west towards the coast (via Albion Road) and take the Queen's Drive (which skirts along the coast) northwards to the terminal. The total drive time from central Montego Bay to the airport is approximately 15 minutes.

Public transport road:

Taxi:Two taxi companies serve the airport: JUTA Taxi (tel: +1 876 952 0813; www.jutatoursltd.com) and JCAL Taxi (tel: +1 876 952 7574; www.jcaltours.com), which share the taxi desk in the ground transportation arrivals hall, just outside of the customs exit. Fares to Montego Bay start at around US$15.

Shuttle:A number of hotels and tour operators organise courtesy shuttles for their guests, which are available from their own lounges in the ground transportation area.

Terminal facilities

Money:

ATM services are available. There are currency exchange offices (tel: +1 876 953 3409) in the departure lounge, arrivals hall and ground transportation area.

Food:

There is a good choice of places to eat at Montego Bay Sangster International Airport. The available restaurants range between fast-food eateries to full-service options; while several bars offer smaller meals and snacks and kiosks provide pizza, ice cream and yoghurt.

Shopping:

Shopping opportunities are plentiful within the terminal complex. These include duty-free outlets and specialist shops selling designer clothes, perfume, local foods and gifts, books, music and jewellery.

Luggage:

The airport's lost and found service (tel: +1 876 971 2726) is located at the security centre in the public area of Arrivals. Trolleys are available in the baggage claim area, while a porter service is available for a small fee.

Other:

Baby changing facilities are available within the toilets in the departures and arrivals concourses. A health office (tel: +1 876 952 2013) is located in the arrivals hall. The airport police station (tel: +1 876 952 2241) can be found in the arrivals public area. There is a smoking lounge in Departures.

Airport facilities

Conference and business:

Fax, photocopy and internet facilities are available from the E-Island kiosk in the departures area. The Club MoBay lounge provides a business centre and showers among its facilities, while the VIP Lounge also provides basic business services.

There are no meeting rooms at the airport, but many of the island's larger resorts and hotels offer these facilities.

Communication Facilities:

Wi-Fi internet access is available at Montego Bay Sangster International Airport’s Club MoBay airport lounge (www.clubmobay.com), located near Gate 9. Postal services are scheduled to open soon at the airport.

Disabled facilities:

All the toilets in the terminal are accessible to wheelchair users. Wheelchair assistance (tel: +1 876 952 2013) is available from the individual airline counters in the check-in and arrivals halls.

Car parking:

The drop-off and pick-up zone is directly outside the terminal complex. All short- and long-term car parking is located in the public car park, which is opposite the terminals.

Car rental:

Car hire companies: Avis, Budget, Hertz, Island Car Rentals and Thrifty have desks in the Arrivals Hall, after customs.
