Driving directions:

Highway 60, which runs from central Tampa, passes in front of the airport entrance. This route continues past the airport and across the bay to Clearwater.

Interstate 275 branches off from Highway 60 at exit 39 and connects northwards to North Tampa and southwards to St. Petersburg.

Tampa's northern suburbs are also linked by West Columbus Drive, which forms West Spruce Street when driving westwards towards the airport.

Public Transport

Public transport road:

Bus:HART's (tel: +1 813 254 4278; www.gohart.org) number 30 bus runs to destinations in central Tampa every 30 minutes. The bus stop is located at Red baggage reclaim. The journey time to Tampa is around 40 minutes and the fare is US$2.

Shuttle:There is a desk at each end of Arrivals for shared-ride shuttle services. Super Shuttle (tel: +1 727 572 1111; www.supershuttle.com) serves Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando counties. The fare to central Tampa is around US$12. A free shuttle service departs from level 1 to International Plaza, a large shopping complex.

Taxi:Taxis are available from Yellow Cab (tel: +1 813 253 0121; www.yellowcaboftampa.com) and United Cab (tel: +1 813 777 7777; www.unitedcaboftampa.com). The flat rate to central Tampa is US$25 and it takes 15-20 minutes. Journeys to all other destinations are metered.

There is a bank, a bureau de change and several ATMs at Tampa International Airport.

Food:

There are several eateries at the airport. These range from full-service restaurants to fast-food outlets and cafés – the majority of these can be found in the concourses within the departure area. There are also several bars, including a lounge bar serving cocktails.

Shopping:

Tampa International Airport is home to a number of shops, from newsagents to specialist gift shops. Duty-free shopping for international passengers is located in concourses E and F.

Luggage:

There are no luggage lockers at the airport. Trolleys are available throughout the terminal and car parks for a fee. For lost and found items, contact the Lost and Found Office (tel: +1 813 554 1414).

Other:

Other facilities at Tampa International Airport include a first aid room, chapel, 24-hour children's play area and baby change facilities.

Conference and business:

There are meeting rooms and a business centre at the Airport Marriott Hotel (tel: +1 813 879 5151;www.marriott.com). Among the services on offer here are computer workstations with internet access as well as fax, colour printing, photocopying and shipping services. Meeting facilities are also located at a number of other local hotels, including the Courtyard Tampa Westshore (tel: +1 813 874 0555;www.marriott.com).

Communication Facilities:

Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the airport. Additionally, public telephones and data ports are situated at various points and there is a post office near the remote economy car park. Post boxes and stamp machines are also available.

Disabled facilities:

Facilities for disabled visitors include dedicated toilets, lifts and ramps, as well as TTY/TDD telephones for hearing-impaired travellers. Reserved parking spaces are provided on all levels of the short-term and long-term garages.

Car parking:

There is a short-term car park with direct access to the terminal via lifts. The long-term car park is connected to the building via a monorail service and pedestrian bridges. The first hour in the short and long-term parking areas is free of charge. A remote car park that is adjacent to the post office offers economy rates and is connected to the terminal by a free shuttle service. Valet parking is also available. Car rental:

Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty have desks in the baggage reclaim areas. There are also several off-airport car rental companies, including E-Z, Payless and U-Save: courtesy shuttles are available to take customers of these operators to their hire cars.
