Driving directions:

From the west and south, drivers should take the Massachusetts Turnpike East, which connects with the Ted Williams Tunnel and leads directly to Boston Logan International Airport.

From the north, drivers should follow Interstate 93 and go through the Lieutenant William F. Callahan Tunnel (or take Interstate 95 to Route 1 South), then follow signs from Route 1A South to the airport.

From central Boston, take Route 1A eastbound (via the Lieutenant William F. Callahan Tunnel) and momentarily merge onto the southbound Interstate 90 before taking the dedicated airport exit to the terminals. The total driving time from central Boston to the airport is approximately 10 minutes.

Transfer between terminals:

A complimentary shuttle service links the terminals, the airport subway station, the Water Transportation Terminal and remote economy parking areas. Buses generally run every 5-6 minutes.

Public Transport

Public transport road:

Bus: MBTA buses 448 and 459 serve Boston Logan International Airport and various locations in Boston (journey time: 25 minutes; fare: US$4.00). The Silver Line SL1 express service runs to central Boston (journey time: 20 minutes; fare: free) and other destinations, including Harvard University.

Bus services are also available from a few private bus lines covering the New England area. Logan Express (tel: +1 800 235 6426) offers a frequent express bus service from all terminals to Braintree, Framingham, Woburn and Peabody. Fares start at US$7.50, depending on destination.

Taxi: Taxis are available from outside all terminals, 24 hours a day. The fare to central Boston ranges from US$35 to US$70.

Public transport rail:

Metro: Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) (tel: +1 617 222 3200; www.mbta.com) operates routes to/from Boston Logan International Airport. Take the MBTA Blue Line at Airport Station for connections to destinations within Boston (a free shuttle bus service links the station to the terminals). A single fare on Boston Subway costs US$2.65.

Public transport water:

Water: Courtesy bus 66 runs from all airport terminals to Logan Dock, from which it's possible to catch the Boston Water Taxi (tel: +1 617 227 4321; www.bostonharborcruises.com/water-taxi) to Boston Harbour.

The Harbor Express (tel: +1 617 222 6999; www.mbta.com) offers numerous daily connections from Logan Dock to Hingham and Hull on the South Shore (journey time: 40 minutes; fare: US$18.50.)

Money:

Banks, ATMs and bureau de change are available throughout Boston Logan International Airport.

Food:

There are plenty of bars, cafés and restaurants at Boston Logan International Airport, with options in every terminal. These include a sports bar and microbrewery in Terminal A, seafood and steak restaurants in Terminal B, a gourmet sandwich shop in Terminal C, and a wine bar in Terminal E.

Shopping:

There are shops in each terminal; including newsagents, gift shops, bookshops and fashion outlets. Duty-free is also available.

Luggage:

A lost and found service (tel: +1 617 568 7514) is available at the airport, and is operated by the Massachusetts Port Authority, Public Services Department. Items may be collected from the Lost and Found office on the departures level between Terminals B and C.

Other:

Other facilities at Boston Logan International Airport include medical assistance, shoeshine kiosks (Terminals A, B and C) and spas (Terminals A, B and C). 'Kidports' in Terminals A, B and C offer play areas for children. There's also a public art space, a non-denominational chapel and a 9/11 memorial on site.

Disabled facilities:

The airport is highly accessible for disabled passengers, with specialised toilets, lifts, Braille signage and TDD services. Disabled car parking is also available; the Massport Parking Office (tel: +1 617 561 1673) can provide further information. There is a free shuttle service between all terminals and the Airport Station. Any passengers who may require additional assistance are advised to contact their airline in advance of travel.

Car parking:

Short- and long-term parking is available at the Central Parking Garage, which is connected to Terminals A, B, C and E via pedestrian bridges and elevated moving walkways. The Terminal B car park offers premium price short- and long-term parking, while daily and hourly rates are also available at the Terminal E car park.

Long-term economy parking is provided in a remote location, connected to the terminals by a free 24-hour shuttle bus. There is also a free 'cell phone lot' for those collecting arriving passengers.

A 24-hour parking assistance service (tel: +1 617 561 1673) is available. Massport offers a number of free services including jump starts, air for tyres and help with looking for a car if you're not sure where you've parked it.

Car rental:

Major car hire companies at Boston Logan International Airport include: Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless, E-Z, Zipcar and Thrifty. All agencies can be found in the Rental Car Centre, which can be reached via shuttle bus.
